SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - The CK McClatchy High School Visual and Performing Arts Department is thrilled to announce its spring musical production of “Rock of Ages: Teen Edition,” a high-octane, student-powered musical packed with iconic rock anthems, bold characters and nonstop fun.

Set on the legendary Sunset Strip, “Rock of Ages: Teen Edition” tells the story of young dreamers chasing fame, love and self-discovery against the backdrop of 1980s rock culture. Featuring hits from bands like Journey, Styx, Pat Benatar and Twisted Sister, this teen-appropriate adaptation delivers all the energy of the original Broadway production with a focus on student storytelling and performance.

This year’s production highlights the leadership and talent of CK McClatchy students. The show is student-directed by Heather Koike, with student musical direction by Oliver Weber; the technical direction is led by Giulia Cascio, offering students hands-on experience in artistic leadership. The production is directed by Tylen Einweck and choreographed by Leanne Ruiz, whose dynamic staging brings the music and movement of the era to life.

Performances will run from Thursday, April 30 through Friday, May 8, with shows scheduled as follows: Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m.; Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, May 5 at 4 p.m.; Wednesday, May 6 at 7 p.m.; Thursday, May 7 at 7 p.m.; and Friday, May 8 at 4 p.m.

The CK McClatchy Spring Musical showcases months of collaboration, creativity and dedication from student performers, musicians, technicians and designers.
