The sunny summer Saturday mornings of August make the Green Haven Pocket
Farmers Market (GHP) patrons wish for long-term relief from scorching summer
temperatures. They linger in the morning sun glow and listen to the hot, upbeat
tempos of Gary Allen every Saturday morning at the farmers market in the Elks 6
parking lot, singing along or just resting on the lawn in the shade of the
trees.
For Fangalua Methuselah, who is originally from Tonga, the music inspired him to do an impromptu dance. Methuselah was overwhelmed that the Elks 6 Lodge had such a wonderful and fun event for the community.
Nicole Holton Alvarado, the GHP chair, said, “Gary Allen’s music is very catchy and puts a smile on everyone’s face. People are always clapping their hands or doing a fancy step as they stroll through the market.”
She also noted, “Methuselah was putting on quite a show, and I hope he comes again.”
